Phenylalanine is a naturally occurring amino acid found in proteins. In our bodies, phenylalanine is converted into tyrosine, which in turn is converted into three important neuotransmitters L-dopa, norepinephrine, and epinephrine. Amongst its many functions, these neurotransmitters in our brain are important for good mood, mental function, and mental balance.
