Description
The constituents found in alfalfa are well studied and have numerous health benefits. The leaves contain compounds called saponins which interfere with the absorption of cholesterol and inhibit the formation of atherosclerotic plaques in the blood vessels. The leaves also contain flavones, isoflavones, sterols, and coumarin derivatives which have estrogen-like effects making it useful in menopause.
